Did you ever eat the fat off a piece of meat? Did you ever ask the chef to cook your steak at medium? Do you go a day without brushing your hair? Did you ever trim your hair? Do you work on Sundays?
If you answered yes to any of these, my friend, you broke the law.
I took the time to look at all the laws mentioned in the book of Leviticus and I was uncomfortable. Not because of the laws that I found but because people emphasize on “getting tattoos” more than “Eating a fatty pork chop”. People tend to forget or are extremely ignorant to the fact that those two laws are in the same book. I don’t think that God measured each law in his sin-o-meter and determined that one law was sinful-er than the other.
We should all know that God sees all sin the same but has anyone questioned why people don’t follow the common broken laws like not cursing your mother or father (which was punishable by death)? Like, why aren’t we killing our children for disrespecting us. I mean, it is the law based on Leviticus correct?
James 2:10 – For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one [point], he is guilty of all.
So every day of our lives, we remain guilty of sin in the eyes of God. We break these laws all the time. How in the world does one make it to heaven with these heavy set standards. It just doesn’t make sense!
…if you don’t read the bible
Romans 10:4- Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.
Romans 6:14 – For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.
Romans 7:6 – But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.
I remember living under the impression that God literally wanted me to live up to all the laws mentioned in Leviticus. I questioned every day as to how anyone could do such a thing? If we are naturally sinners and we do it every day, how does anyone make it to heaven? HOW? My ignorance to the Word of God made me believe that God was never happy with me. That He was never proud and I questioned how in the world He could love me even an inch. The bible just did not make sense.
I feel bad for all the people who live a “Christian” life under the law. That simply confirms the fact that they don’t read scripture whatsoever. I put my guards up when I see “Christians” emphasize on how bad it is to wear skirts at the altar, size of earrings, amounts of makeup, foods that are unholy, not sitting where sinners sit aka movie theaters, sports events etc. I’m not condoning anything nor am I condemning it. I’m like Paul, I stay away from those little disputes. I don’t need to emphasize on any of it.
Romans 7:22-25- 22 In my mind I am happy with God’s law. 23 But I see another law working in my body. That law makes war against the law that my mind accepts. That other law working in my body is the law of sin, and that law makes me its prisoner. 24 What a miserable person I am! Who will save me from this body that brings me death? 25 I thank God for his salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord!
So in my mind I am a slave to God’s law, but in my sinful self I am a slave to the law of sin.
Thank you Jesus for the Cross. Without You, I will never make it to the Glory in Heaven. You became the ultimate sacrifice for my transgression today and forevermore. It is because of You that I can stand before a Holy God. Your law is perfect! I find no flaw in it but Lord, the flaw abides in me. as I read Leviticus, You remind me that I can’t make it on my own. You remind me of how imperfect I am. Thank You Jesus for the Law and thank You for saving me from it.
I am made righteous by the blood of the lamb. You don’t see me God, You see Christ in me.
